36a Avoca Drive, Avoca Beach
Designer: Stephen Moore Architects
Engineer: G.R.Eddy & Associates
Duration: 32 weeks
This project is partially regarded as a renovation.
The original modest brick cottage on this difficult site was approximately 30 years old and positioned at the top of an extremely steep right of way.
The scope of works included stripping the original home to the ground floor slab (approximately 100m
2) and constructing a new seven bedroom four bathroom, family holiday home on the site which had been held in the family for many years.
The site provided many structural and safety challenges from conveying the materials upward, to underpinning the old slab and founding the new areas on steep exposed rock.
The finished home boasts four seperate levels, a three car garage cut into the rock face, quality finishes and open views from large deck areas.
This home was one of 5 finalists in the H.I.A. Hunter Central Coast renovation of the year for 2007.
